BATTERY PARK CITY

Battery Park City is one of New York’s most desirable neighborhoods. Situated on 25 acres of reclaimed land along the Hudson River and bounded by Chambers Street, West Street, and Pier A, this residential and commercial complex features modern buildings with stunning views designed by well-known architects. Located in Lower Manhattan, it is also adjacent to global centers of culture and business, as the neighborhood is bordered by Tribeca, the World Trade Center, and the Financial District. Now, restaurants (like Danny Meyer's Shake Shack) and retailers are also moving to the area.

The neighborhood might be considered Manhattan’s greenest—for multiple reasons. Built starting in the late 1970s and completed only within the last decade, many of Battery Park City’s residential buildings are LEED-certified. In addition, the area features a verdant waterfront esplanade, as well as numerous playing fields, parks, and a marina. Unlike the Upper West Side, Upper East Side, or many other neighborhoods in New York, Battery Park City is removed from the bustle of major avenues and adjacent to Hudson River Park. The World Financial Center occupies the middle of the neighborhood, but residential areas to the north and south feel calm and quiet, an oasis in Lower Manhattan.
