In the wake of burgeoning commercial and residential development, Battery Park City has emerged as one of Manhattan's premier neighborhoods. A combination of convenience and a rich cultural history give the region universal appeal, with professionals and families alike taking advantage of Battery Park's countless amenities since the inception of its redevelopment in 1960s.

The planned community stands on 92 acres at the southernmost tip of lower Manhattan, bordering the Hudson River, the Financial District, and TriBeCa. Given its proximity to Wall Street - the financial hub of the Western world - Battery Park City has become a natural destination for businesses large and small. Goldman Sachs; a foremost provider of financial services; completed its new World Headquarters in the region's "North Residential Neighborhood" in 2009, which boasts 43-stories, 1.6 million square-foot tower, and Gold LEED certification. Battery Park City also boasts a complex of commercial buildings known as the "World Financial Center." Tenants in this commercial complex include American Express, Dow Jones, Merrill Lynch, and Deloitte & Touche. The World Financial Center also offers homage to the World Trade Center; dirt excavated from the former towers served as the fill material during the building of the complex. In addition to offices for the aforementioned firms, the World Financial Center also contains a lower-level mall complete with the "Winter Garden;" a glass-and-steel atrium. The surrounding residential areas also contain various corporate buildings, both low-rise and high-rise.

The aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks profoundly affected Battery Park City, yet over the last decade, the community has showcased its unity and resilience in the true Manhattan spirit. Partnering with nearby TriBeCa, residents formed the since-Grammy-nominated "Tribattery Pops." While temporarily delayed, building and development projects throughout the region have continued at a prolific rate; in the last decade alone, Battery Park City has seen the completion of ten residential and commercial buildings.

Thoroughfares include Vessey Street, South End Avenue, Albany Street, Murray and Barclay Street. Subway stops in the area include World Trade Center E train, Cortland St. R,W trains, Park Place 2,3 trains, and Rector Street 1,R,W trains.
